Palisades Park schools getting new interim chief

Mark Hayes, the interim schools superintendent in Palisades Park for the past two years, will leave the district at the end of the month. Hayes will be replaced by former schools Superintendent Charles Smith, who was appointed to the temporary post for the period of July 1 to Aug. 31, 2014, or until a permanent replacement is found.

Palisades Park ‘comfort women’ memorial saluted by Japanese-American congressman

Michael Honda, a U.S. representative from California of Japanese descent, on Friday placed a bouquet on a stone memorial to women sexually enslaved by the Japanese Imperial Army during years including World War II, and then again urged the Japanese government to formally apologize to victims.

Palisades Park man linked to ID and credit card fraud ring to be deported to South Korea

A Palisades Park man involved in a massive identity theft and credit card fraud ring was transferred Thursday to immigration officials for deportation to South Korea after a federal judge determined that the 31 months he has already spent in jail would satisfy his sentence.

Alan Lustmann, Palisades Park police chief who guarded Nixon, dies at 79 Palisades Park police chief, Nixon guard

Alan "Skippy" Lustmann was a career cop who became Palisades Park chief in 1985. He was part of former President Nixon's security detail, but retired in 1995 during a scandal involving officers in his department.
