Bill overhauling state child porn laws arrives on Gov. Christie's desk

The legislation was proposed in January by Sen. Kevin O’Toole (R-Essex), who said a December Star-Ledger special report on child pornography prompted him to introduce it. It would make New Jersey's laws near or equal to much tougher federal child-porn laws.

North Jersey politicians won't return Birdsall's pay-to-play donations

North Jersey politicians who allegedly received illegal campaign contributions from a disgraced engineering company said Sunday that they did nothing wrong. Several said they don’t intend to return questionable donations. Birdsall Services Group, an Eatontown engineering firm that did work around the state, pleaded guilty this month to charges that it made illegal campaign donations in exchange for public contracts, a practice called “pay-to-play.”
