State settles Hurricane Sandy charity lawsuit

Four months after the state filed a lawsuit against the Hurricane Sandy Relief Foundation for fraud, the case may be settled quietly today in Bergen Superior Court. The charity has been approved by the IRS to operate as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization but that doesn't necessarily mean that they can resume fundraising, according a spokesman for the Division of Consumer Affairs.
