EDGEWATER, NJ - The Edgewater Mayor and Council has reached an agreement with New York Waterway for a reduction of ferry fares on the Edgewater - Manhattan commuter ferry service by $1 per trip.

Effective May 15, fares between the Edgewater ferry landing at River Road and Route 5 in Edgewater, and the New York Waterway ferry terminal at W. 39th Street on the Hudson River in Manhattan, have been reduced to $9.50 for a single trip and $78 for a 10-trip ticket. A monthly ticket is now $272, down from $314.

"We persuaded the company that it is in the best interest of all to reduce fares at this time," said Edgewater Mayor Nancy Merse. "We thank the company for hearing our call."

Other fares will be $6 for children under 12; $8.75 for seniors; and $214.50 for a student monthly ticket, down from $262.50.

These fares include complimentary bus connections on the Borough of Edgewater bus, the Fort Lee Parking Authority bus, and the special Cliffside Park bus, plus the New York Waterway bus service which carries passengers from W. 39th Street on several routes to midtown and downtown Manhattan.
