7 Canada geese gassed in Edgewater, mayor says

Despite months of protests and impassioned pleas by animal welfare activists to protect the Canada geese that reside on borough property, Mayor Michael McPartland announced at a public meeting Monday night that seven of the birds had been gassed recently as part of a program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Parts of Veterans Field may open by fall

Edgewater moved closer to reopening all of Veterans Field this week when it awarded a Mount Arlington-based builder a $7.5 million contract to complete the final phase of its remediation and restoration program at the site, and borough officials said parts of the park could open as early as the fall.
