North Jersey animal control officer charged with animal cruelty

Edgewater resident Vincent Ascolese, 48, is accused of euthanizing a fawn by exsanguination, or cutting the deer’s throat with a knife, the New Jersey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said in a statement. Exsanguination is not an approved method of euthanasia in New Jersey.
